From April 21 to 24, the 2nd World Congress on Internal Combustion Engines (WICE) was held in Jinan City, China. With the theme of "Green, Efficient, Intelligent and Reliable", this congress put forward the slogan of "Never forget the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, keep in mind the mission of power technology development", and strive to promote cleaner, more efficient, more intelligent and more reliable development of internal combustion engine (ICE) through international academic and technical exchanges in internal combustion engine industry.

On April 21, the press conference of the 2nd WICE was held to introduce the basic situation of the congress and answer questions on hot issues concerned by the reporters. At the press conference, "golden sentences" appeared frequently, "ICE industry is not a sunset industry, and the non innovator on the road of carbon emission reduction and zero carbon emission will be a sunset industry" was widely reprinted by the media, "thermal efficiency" became a hot word.

At the opening ceremony of the congress on April 22, WAN Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the China Association for science and technology, congratulated by video. MIAO Wei, deputy director of the Economic Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and former Minister of the Ministry of industry and information technology, sent a congratulatory letter. LING Wen, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering and vice governor of Shandong Province, JIN Donghan, President of the congress, President of CIMAC and President of the Chinese Society for ICEs (CSICE), and FAN Liming, President of Shandong University, delivered speeches respectively. TAN Xuguang, co-chairman of the congress, vice president of CSICE and director of State Key Laboratory of ICE reliability, presided over the opening ceremony of the congress.

This is an academic and technological feast for the global ICE industry to exchange prosperity, enlighten wisdom and promote progress. The congress set up one main venue and eight sub venues to exchange and discuss topics such as the 10th international conference of ICE reliability technology, efficient clean combustion, after-treatment technology,  fuel and lubricant, control and monitoring,  the 6th international forum on large engine, fuel cell engines,  methanol fuel. Invited the world's top industry experts to bring 4 wonderful themes and 9 theme reports, as well as more than 90 industry invited reports, and nearly 600 papers were published on the congress. It has set up a new comprehensive exchange platform for the enterprise technology research and development, production and manufacturing, quality management, supporting procurement, marketing and other professional scientific and technological personnel in the whole industry chain of internal combustion engine industry. More than 2000 top scientists, entrepreneurs, experts, scholars and other scientific and technological workers from the world's ICE industry gathered together online and offline to discuss technology hot spots and difficulties, promote technological progress and lead the development of the industry.

In order to better fulfill the mission of engine power technology development and contribute to the realization of China's "two carbon strategy", CSICE, together with China-SAE, Weichai group, Shanghai Diesel Engine Research Institute, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, FAW, Dongfeng, Sinopec Petro China and other 20 core units of the ICE industry chain formed a strong alliance and jointly initiated the establishment of the "China Carbon Neutralization Innovation Alliance for Engines" .The innovation alliance will actively respond to the call of the state, jointly study and discuss the technical route of engine carbon reduction and control, systematically sort out the key technical problems, organize the superior forces in the upstream, middle and downstream, realize the technological breakthrough of independent innovation, create the standard of green power, promote the construction of industrial development system, and jointly create China's green power industry chain.

The 2^nd WICE Exhibition was held at the same time. More than 200 exhibitors, including Weichai, Sinotruk , Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute, Southwest Research Institute, FEV, AVL, Tianjin University, Beijing University of Technology, Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, have concentrated on displaying the latest technical achievements, award-winning products, high quality new products of complete machine and parts and R & D and manufacturing equipments.

The organizer of the conference, CSICE, also set up an exhibition of “40 years of CSICE creation" at the venue, attracting many diesel engine practitioners.

Since the birth of the Chinese ICE industry, every progress is the crystallization of the sweat condensation of the hard struggle of the Chinese ICE practitioners!

Under the guidance of the strategy of "two carbon", the Chinese ICE practitioners will create a brilliant future!
